Most ultrasound scans last between 30 minutes to an hour. During the test, a trained professional: Applies gel: You’ll have a small amount of water-soluble gel on your skin over the area to be examined they usually take place in a hospital radiology department and are performed either by a doctor, radiographer, or a sonographer.

Please come on an empty stomach with overnight fasting (10 to 12 hours). You are advised to have 2-3 glasses of plain water, to enable a full bladder to facilitate an ultrasound.
